21.00 Informal Welcome reception  at the Rusudan Petviashvili Gallery in Batumi, with exhibition of Petviashvili’s works, Rusudan Petviashvili Art Gallery & Café,  Z. Gamsakhurdia 7, Batumi  

 

 

30 September

09.00: Registration at Batumi Hotel Intourist Palace. Coffee, tea and snacks buffet

10.00: Opening: Speeches by Head of Government Mr Zurab Pataradze, Ajara Autonomous Region, and Minister of Culture and Heritage Protection, Georgia,  Mr. Mikheil Giorgadze, Minister of Education, Culture and Sport of Ajara A/R, Mr. Giorgi Tavamaishvili, Rector Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University Mr. Merab Khalvashi and ECP Co-founder and Secretary General of  ECP Karl-Erik Norrman

10.40: Keynote speech by Ms Rusudan Petviashvili, visual artist, Tbilisi

11.00: Coffee/tea break

11.15: Plenary session on the main theme “Will European values prevail all over Europe?”

a)  Consequences of “Brexit”, Moderation: Ove Joanson, ex-president of the Swedish Broadcasting. Speakers:  i. a. Venu Dhupa, Theatre Director and ex-manager British Council and Creative Scotland (via Skype) and Marton Mehes, cultural manager, Pécs/ Vienna. General debate.

13.15: Lunch break + City tour

15.30: Continued Plenary session on the main theme:

b)  Integration, immigration, Intercultural Sensitivity. Moderator Ove Joanson. Panel: i. a. Judith Mc Krimm, Intercultural communications expert, Austria, and Nils Erik Forsgård, Author and Historian, Helsinki. General debate.

17.00: Coffee/tea break

17.30: Debate: “Being a cultural neighbor of the EU”.  Moderator Steve Austen, Founder of Felix Meritis Foundation, Amsterdam. Panel: Dr. Levan Khetaguri, SCF, Tbilisi , a representative from EU Office, Tbilisi, Oleksander Butsenko, author and cultural manager, Kiev”. General debate.

19.00: Folk Dance and Songs Concert at the Music Centre

Saturday 1 October

09.30: Titus Leber, Writer and Film Director, Vienna, on “Virus of the mind”, terrorism and extremism, followed by debate, moderated by Karl-Erik Norrman

10.15: Dorian van der Brempt, cultural manager, ex-director of the cultural centre de Buren, Brussels, on project Belgium/Georgia

11.00: Coffee/tea break

11.30: Debate: “What are European values? Are they different in different regions of Europe? Moderator Stelios Virvidakis, Professor of Philosophy, Athens. Panel including i. a. Iara Boubnova, Arts Curator and Critic, Sofia, Dr. Gabriele Zaidyte, Vilnius,  and Bengt Kristensson-Uggla, Professor of Philosophy, Turku.

13.30: Lunch + cultural program by choice

15.30: Workshops at the University: 1) Batumi State University, 2) Marital Academy, 3) Arts Schools, Media Cultural institutions

17.30: Coffee/tea break

17.30: Workshop: “Artists as Facilitators of Change” led by new ECPM Efva Lilja, Choreographer, Stockholm, with written contribution from Timothy Emly-Jones, Arts school rector, Ireland.

18.30: Presentation of the cultural project “Transatlantic Dialogue”. ECPM Francois Carbon, Luxemburg.

18.45: Transportation to concert

19.00: Concert of classical music at the Paliashvili Music Schools tbc

20.30: Dinner at restaurant “White Pearl” or at the hotel tbc

 

Sunday 2 October

10.00: Final Debate on the main themes, moderated by Karl-Erik Norrman and Ove Joanson.

11.30: Coffee/tea break

12.00: Adopting Declaration and Resolutions. Moderation Karl-Erik Norrman and Bert Mulder, Cultural Strategy Lecturer, The Hague

13.30: Final Press Conference at the hotel conference room

14.00: LunchBuffet, followed by departure to airport
