Stavroula Constantinou, born in Dhekelia, Cyprus, in 1975, is specialized in Byzantine Literature. She studied Byzantine, Western Medieval and Modern Greek Literature at the universities of Cyprus, Cambridge and Freie Universitaet Berlin (PhD in Byzantine Literature). Her research interests are Hagiography, Narrative Literature, Rhetoric, and Literary Theory. She is Associate Professor of Byzantine Studies at the Department of Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies at the University of Cyprus. Stavroula Constantinou is the author of Female Corporeal Performances: Reading the Body in Byzantine Passions and Lives of Holy Women (Uppsala, 2005) and of many articles in journals and collected volumes.
