Kateryna Botanova (Ukraine) is an art critic, curator, contemporary culture researcher and cultural producer. Since 2009 director of CSM-Foundation Center for Contemporary Art (Kyiv, Ukraine) and founder and chief editor of the online journal on contemporary culture KORYDOR. Works with issues of social engagement of art and the role of art in societies’ transformative processes.
She lectures on contemporary art, cultural management and cultural criticism. Since 2013 curates a special program “Non-practical stuff for entrepreneurs” at KMBS (Kyiv Mohyla Business School). In 2010 she was on the expert team developing the EC Eastern Partnership Cultural Program. Member of the Board of the FLOW festival (2009), European Cultural Parliament (2007), Vienna Seminar Steering Group (ERSTE Foundation 2012).
As cultural journalist and cultural section editor she worked for most major magazines and TV channels in Ukraine. Holds MA in Cultural Studies from the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy (Kyiv, Ukraine).
In 2009 her Ukrainian translation of Edward Said’s Culture and Imperialism received Ukrainian Book of the Year award. Her translation of Vitaly Chernetsky Mapping Postcommunist Cultures. Russia and Ukraine in the Context of Globalization was published by Krytyka publishers in 2013.
