François Carbon, born in 1961, is cultural actor at the University of Luxembourg who seeks to add a creative dimension to the main tasks of the University, namely learning and research. With this in mind, he runs and coordinates cultural, intercultural events and contributes to life on campus, so as to promote and improve the quality of life at the UL, broaden horizons amongst UL community members (students, doctorates, administration, professors, researchers, …), boost cross-cultural dialogue, and contribute to an exchange of ideas aimed at developing culture in Europe and the concept of European citizenship. As president of the Scenicae@uni.lu, a cultural association, created in September 2009, he coordinates the goals of an interdisciplinary cultural network. who consist in promoting and framing the activities of the different artistic ensembles of the University within the multi-cultural society of Luxembourg and beyond, in developing and fortifying the links between the university and the cultural actors in Luxembourg as well as in offering further training and education to the members of the UL ensembles through the collaboration with almost all national cultural partners. Culture exists in all our doings, all our activities. It is philosophy, creation, quality … pure and simple …a way of life. As professionals, acting in Universities and working with upcoming generations, it is part of our responsibility to consider all these aspects and try to support our members keeping in mind the importance of this lifelong learning process.
