Profile
Emma Richez-Battesti, born 1969, is a nomadic artist in the field of theatre and street events. She has worked in the Mediterranean area, especially in France and Italy, as a performer and director. Her constant preoccupation is how to share art with people who are not exposed to it. Some relevant experiences: 1997-2000: “Mediterranean Parts”, a nomadic workshop for young Mediterranean actors, led by Marco Baliani. The last production was “Sacrifice” about political scapegoats. The performance was made in Beirut on the day of the beginning of the second “Stone Revolution”. Emma Richez-Battesti also describes these two case studies in “Creative Europe”, Eric Arts 2002. 1999-2002: “Massalia”, huge street events based on the living memory of the city of Marseille, made by and for the inhabitants. 2002-2005: “Migration Blues”, a series of five plays based on the storytelling of migrants from the suburbs of Marseille.
